Police said that a person who was protesting in front of the Sri Dalada Maligawa while displaying a banner containing insulting remarks about the Diyawadana Nilame of the Sri Dalada Maligawa and the Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the Central Province was attacked with paint containing an unpleasant smell.Police said that he had been engaged in an unlawful protest yesterday morning, on the day of the Dahawal Perahera (The Day Procession).

While he was engaged in the protest, two individuals wearing helmets that concealed their faces arrived on a motorcycle and carried out the paint attack.The man, identified as Deaman Ananda, is a familiar sight to the people of Kandy, as he frequently holds banners in front of the Dalada Maligawa to protest against various individuals.Kandy Headquarters Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
