– The office of the Commission on Public Sector Salaries and Pensions, appointed to introduce reforms in the salaries and pension systems of public sector officials, will be opened today (04), the President’s Media Division (PMD) said.

The office will be opened at 10.00 a.m. at the Commission office located at Malalasekara Mawatha, Colombo 07. The Commission was established in accordance with a directive issued by the President through Extraordinary Gazette Notification No. 2494/05 dated 22 June 2026. The Commission has been entrusted with the responsibility of addressing issues relating to public sector salaries and pensions, enhancing the professionalism of public servants and making recommendations on the structural reforms required to modernize the public service in line with emerging technological developments and global trends. As part of fulfilling these objectives, the formal process of inviting views and proposals from trade unions, organizations and the general public will also commence tomorrow.
