Two Sri Lankan-Origin players in Australia U19 World Cup Squad
Defending champion Australia has named a 15-player squad for the upcoming ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2026, including two newcomers of Sri Lankan heritage, Nitesh Samuel and Naden Cooray.The squad, which will be led by Victoria’s Oliver Peake, features three uncapped players rewarded for their performances at the recent Under-19 Male National Championships in Perth. Samuel and Cooray earned selection after standout tournaments.
Samuel was the championships’ top run-scorer, amassing 364 runs at an average of 91, and was named Player of the Tournament. Cooray was selected for his strong all-round performance. Both NSW Metro representatives were named in the official Team of the Tournament. (
