During the last two days, 8 Indian trawlers nabbed in Sri Lankan waters!
The Sri Lanka Navy yesterday (19) arrested 12 Indian fishermen and took into custody two Indian trawlers for fishing illegally in Sri Lankan waters.
The arrests were made by Coast Guard patrol boats attached to the North Central Naval Command during a special operation off the coast of Sri Lanka south of Mannar.
During the last two days (December 18 and 19), the Navy nabbed 08 Indian trawlers and 55 Indian fishermen who were engaged in illegal fishing in Sri Lankan waters during operations conducted by the North and North Central Naval Commands.
The operation was carried out in accordance with the existing health guidelines and the Indian fishermen who were taken into custody by the Navy in the southern seas of Mannar are being directed to the relevant divisions for further legal action after being sent for immediate Rapid Antigen tests, the Navy said.
