80% attendance not compulsory for A/L this year
The requirement of 80% school attendance will not be considered for students sitting for the G.C.E. Advanced Level examination this December, the Education Ministry says.
Principals have been given the neccessary guidelines, the ministry notes.
The ministry says that it has also been decided to continue the interest-free student loan system introduced for students who had passed their GCE A/Ls. The opportunity is given to follow selected degree programmes accredited at Non State Higher Education that are approved by the Ministry of Education. The scheme has been in place since 2017.
Meanwhile, the ministry also says the deadline for applications for National Colleges of Education based on the GCE A/L results of 2019/2020, has been extended to August 19, 2022.
