STUDENTS BETWEEN 16 TO 20 ALLOWED FOR PART TIME WORK

Part-time job opportunities for students

The Ministry of Labor is preparing to amend the law so that young people between the ages of sixteen and twenty can work part-time in private companies.

In a discussion chaired by Labor Minister Manusha Nanayakkara, it was revealed that many problems have arisen in the labor field because children are not used to a working environment.
Children of this age can work part-time for twenty hours a month.Private companies will also be permitted to make payments for that service period.

During that time, permanent job opportunities should not be provided and formal training is also mandatory.
