Court remands suspect accused of robbing PickMe driver
The Colombo Magistrate’s Court has ordered that a suspect arrested in connection with the robbery of a PickMe driver, after allegedly hiring the vehicle under the pretext of taking a fare-paying journey, be remanded until 9 June.
The suspect, who was arrested by the Welikada Police, was produced today (1) before Colombo Additional Magistrate Nuwan Kaushalya.Police informed the court that investigations into the incident are continuing.
They further stated that inquiries are underway to arrest two additional suspects allegedly connected to the offence. Accordingly, the Police requested that the suspect be remanded and that an order be issued for him to be placed in an identification parade.Granting the request, the Magistrate ordered that the suspect be held on remand until 9 June and directed that he be produced for an identification parade on that date.
