Gem-studded gold necklaces stolen from Sandagiri Seya
It is reported that between 10 and 12 gem-studded gold necklaces that had been placed on the relic casket inside the stupa chamber of the Sandagiri Seya temple, located in the Hantana area of Kandy, have been stolen after three doors to the chamber were broken open. The Chief Incumbent has lodged a complaint with the Kandy Headquarters Police.
Following a complaint made by the Chief Incumbent of the Sandagiri Seya temple in Hantana, Venerable Gangasiripura Dhammaloka Thera, police have commenced extensive investigations.
Venerable Dhammaloka Thera further stated that a gold casket and the sacred relics housed within the chamber had not been taken by the thieves.
