“Prathishta” initiative unveiled to rebuild affected schools
The Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education has announced the launch of the project “Prathishta” – a program to restore schools affected by recent disasters.Secretary to the Ministry – Nalaka Kaluwewa, said that any organization, group, or individual can contribute to rebuilding efforts, with all activities coordinated through the Ministry’s Disaster Management Committee.
The public can provide support or make inquiries via the hotline 1988 or through WhatsApp: 07765 823 65 / 071 99 323 25. The Ministry reports that over 1,500 schools island-wide were damaged, with the Northern Province being the worst affected (330 schools), followed by the Western Province (266), Eastern Province (221), Central and North Western Provinces (136 each).
