Reports indicate that around 500 officers attached to the Special Task Force (STF), one of Sri Lanka’s key elite security units, are being considered for deployment to the regular police service.According to police sources, the STF currently comprises around 2,500 personnel and is responsible for intelligence gathering and operational support across police divisions island-wide.
High-ranking police sources also state that there are plans to remove around 500 officers described as “inefficient” who have served in the STF for over 12 years, with the move reportedly linked to existing vacancies in the general police service. However, Police Media Spokesman – SSP F.
