Committee appointed to streamline foreign aid distribution for flood victims
– A new national committee has been appointed to ensure the proper coordination and fair distribution of foreign aid reaching Sri Lanka in the wake of recent natural disasters .Speaking at a special media briefing held today at the Disaster Management Centre, State Minister of Defence, Retired Major General Aruna Jayasekera, announced the decision.He stated that the committee will be responsible for managing and distributing the aid and equipment received from foreign countries to the affected communities efficiently.
“Donations should be delivered to the correct place through this committee. As a government, we must ensure they are used properly and clearly communicate how the distribution is done, with each person receiving assistance only once,” he said.The committee, chaired by State Minister Aruna Jayasekera, has been appointed effective from today.
