SC issues order to strengthen protection of minors in custody
The Supreme Court has directed the Inspector General of Police to issue strict instructions to all police officers over the treatment of minors in custody.According to the order, any child taken into police custody must be presented to his or her parents or guardians within six hours of arrest.The order further ordered that children must be shown to their parents before being produced before a magistrate.These orders aim to strengthen child protection procedures within the law enforcement system and ensure the rights of minors are safeguarded during legal processes.
