The Department of Motor Traffic (DMT) has issued a special notice requesting vehicle owners to urgently collect number plates printed for the years 2023 and 2024, which have not yet been collected, before June 30.The Department stated that as of May 21, nearly 100,000 vehicle number plates printed during 2023 and 2024, but not yet collected by owners, are currently piled up at its premises.It further noted that a large stock of unclaimed number plates has accumulated at its head office in Narahenpita, Colombo, as well as at district offices across the country.

Accordingly, vehicle owners who applied for number plates during 2023 and 2024 but have not yet collected them are requested to obtain them before June 30, 2026.
