Cotta Road level crossing closed for urgent renovation on Kelani Valley Line
Train operations on the Kelani Valley Line will be temporarily revised, while the Cotta Road level crossing will be fully closed for vehicular traffic due to essential renovation work carried out by the Railway Department.The maintenance work will be conducted at the Cotta Road railway crossing located at 02 Chain 17 between Baseline and Narahenpita railway stations. Accordingly, the level crossing will remain completely closed from 09.30 a.m. on 23 May 2026 (Saturday) to 07.30 a.m. on 24 May 2026 (Sunday).
During this period, train services between Colombo Fort and Narahenpita railway stations on the Kelani Valley Line will be suspended.
Three slow trains will operate from Narahenpita Railway Station on the evening of 23 May 2026 and run up to Avissawella Railway Station as follows:
From Narahenpita to Avissawella (23 May 2026):
Train No. 9262 – 05.00 p.m.
Train No. 9264 – 06.15 p.m.
Train No. 9271 – 08.15 p.m.
On the morning of 24 May 2026, three slow trains will operate from Avissawella Railway Station to Colombo Fort Railway Station as follows:
From Avissawella to Colombo Fort (24 May 2026):
Train No. 9649 – 05.15 a.m.
Train No. 9641 – 05.55 a.m.
Train No. 9651 – 06.25 a.m.
