Gill Century Sends Gujarat into IPL Final
– Shubman Gill smashed a captain’s century as Gujarat Titans stormed into the IPL 2026 final with a seven-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals on Friday, ending teenage star Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s dream run despite a brilliant 96.
Chasing a daunting 215 in New Chandigarh, Gill led from the front with a classy 104, while Sai Sudharsan added 58 in a commanding 167-run opening stand. Gujarat sealed victory with eight balls remaining to book a final clash against defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Ahmedabad.
Fifteen-year-old Sooryavanshi once again lit up the tournament with a fearless 47-ball 96, smashing eight fours and seven sixes. The youngster finished a sensational season with 776 runs, ending as the tournament’s leading run-scorer.
Rajasthan posted 214-6 after Sooryavanshi and Ravindra Jadeja, unbeaten on 45, rebuilt the innings with a crucial partnership. Donovan Ferreira then provided a late flourish with an explosive 38 not out off just 11 balls to push the Royals past 200.
But Gujarat’s chase was clinical. Gill controlled the innings with authority before Rahul Tewatia finished the game in style with a six, sending the Titans into their third IPL final in franchise history.
