Heavy showers, severe lightning to continue over several Provinces

– The prevailing showery condition across the island is expected to continue over the next few days due to a low-level atmospheric disturbance in the vicinity of Sri Lanka, the Department of Meteorology said.
According to the forecast, showers or thundershowers will occur at most places after 1.00 p.m., while showers are also likely in the Western, Southern and Northern provinces during the morning.The department warned that heavy rainfall exceeding 100 mm is likely at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva and North-Western provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts.
Meanwhile, misty conditions can be expected in parts of the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces and in the Kurunegala district during the early hours of the morning.
The department also issued a warning for severe lightning activity in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Western, North-Central, Uva and Southern provinces and in the Ampara, Batticaloa, Mannar and Vavuniya districts after 1.00 p.m.
