Police team led by Olugala, raids ‘City Hotel – Colombo 02’

A hotel alleged to be owned by former Minister Johnston Fernando has been inspected by the police.The search was carried out following information received that illegal activities were taking place at the hotel.According to information received by Inspector General of Police Priyantha Weerasuriya, a team led by Rohana Olugala, Director of the Walana Central Anti-Corruption Task Force, conducted the inspection.
The premises inspected was a star-class hotel named ‘City Hotel’, located on Lillie Street, Colombo 02.However, police stated that no illegal substances or activities were discovered during the inspection.Police sources further noted that a group of six lawyers was present at the location at the time of the search, and that the inspection was conducted under their observation. It is also reported that the operation was carried out under authorization obtained from the Fort Magistrate’s Court.
