Sri Lanka Police have advised foreign nationals to exchange foreign currency only through authorized money exchange centres or licensed banks, warning that those who engage in transactions through unauthorized individuals risk becoming victims of counterfeit currency scams.Speaking on the matter, Police Media Spokesperson Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) F.U. Wootler urged foreigners to carry out all foreign currency transactions through authorized money changers or banks approved by the government.
He warned that foreigners who use unauthorized money exchange services may become victims of counterfeit currency scams and other fraudulent activities.
