Litro gas revision on June 5th
Litro Gas Lanka Limited has announced that its gas price revision for this month (June) will be officially revealed tomorrow (04), with the new prices set to take effect from 5 June.
A spokesperson said that reports related to the monthly price revision have already been submitted to the Finance Ministry, and that the final assessment is expected to be received today (03).According to Litro, the upcoming price adjustment will be based on prevailing conditions in the global market and international gas price trends. The Company noted that it intends to align domestic gas prices with changes in global energy markets when determining the June revision.
Meanwhile, Litro did not make any changes to gas prices during its previous monthly review.Elsewhere, the Government will review whether a revision to water tariffs is necessary on 30 June, the Housing, Construction and Water Supply Minister, Susil Ranasinghe has announced. Speaking to the media, Ranasinghe said that no decision has yet been made regarding a tariff increase.
A Cabinet of Ministers decision issued on 19 May confirmed that water tariffs would remain unchanged during the first six months of the year (2026). The authorities noted at the time that current tariff rates are sufficient to cover the full operational costs of the water supply sector.
Addressing concerns about a possible increase, Ranasinghe acknowledged that the recent rise in electricity tariffs could have some impact on water supply costs. However, he emphasised that the effect on water bills would be minimal. “The next review is scheduled for 30 June. By then, we will assess all expenses incurred between January and June for water treatment and the operations of the National Water Supply and Drainage Board. While the recent electricity tariff increase will have some effect, its impact on water bills is expected to be very small,” he said.
The Minister added that the final decision following the June 30 review would determine whether any adjustment to water tariffs is required.
“I believe there will be no need to increase water tariffs,” he stated.
