Ven. Balangoda Kassapa Thera was admitted to the Colombo National Hospital last night (17) in a Suwa Seriya ambulance from Viharamahadevi Park after reportedly being assaulted.Ven. Ulapane Sumanagala Thera said that, owing to threats to his life, arrangements were made to transfer him from the National Hospital to a private hospital that same night.
Speaking further, he said the statements made by Police Spokesman F. U. Wootler and Colombo National Hospital Director Dr Sampath Indika regarding Ven. Balangoda Kassapa Thera were entirely false.
