Satyagraha against Sallay’s custodial treatment, kicks off

A ‘Satyagraha’ commenced at the Colombo Fort Railway station premises today (June 08), against the inhumane treatment of former State Intelligence Service chief – Major General (Retd.) Suresh Sallay, during custody.
Sallay, who is held under a 90-day detention order to interrogate his links to the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks, was admitted to the Colombo National Hospital last night, following a sudden illness. Earlier, Sallay’s wife – Mrs. Manori Sallay had also sent a letter to the Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Shani Abeysekara, stating that her husband is currently being treated at the Colombo National Hospital, and that she and their child have been permitted to see him only from a distance.She has also requested that lawyers representing her husband be granted permission to meet him to facilitate legal proceedings related to his case.
