Sri Lanka Police have uncovered new details regarding the discovery of a woman’s body found inside a parked car in the Teldeniya area.The deceased has been identified as 34-year-old physiotherapist Shamya Darshani, who was attached to the Ampara District General Hospital. According to police, the woman’s boyfriend allegedly transported her body in a vehicle, abandoned it near the Teldeniya Hospital, and fled the area.Investigations began after the victim’s brother, a resident of Kota Wewa in Thalawa, lodged a complaint with Nuwara Eliya Police on June 17, stating that his sister had been staying in an apartment complex in Nuwara Eliya and had informed him that she had not eaten for several days.

However, CCTV footage reportedly showed the boyfriend arriving at the apartment at around 9.50 p.m. on June 16 and remaining there for around 40 minutes.Police said the footage later showed him carrying the unconscious woman at around 10.30 p.m. and driving away.While Nuwara Eliya Police had alerted other stations, the OIC of Teldeniya Police received an anonymous call reporting that a woman’s body was inside a vehicle parked near Teldeniya Hospital.Police officers who inspected the vehicle found the body on the front passenger seat, covered with a black cloth.

The body was later recovered after forcing open the locked vehicle. Subsequent investigations confirmed that the deceased was the same
