A special program has been launched to issue National Identity Cards (NICs) to elderly people from low-income families who have been unable to receive the senior citizens’ allowance due to the lack of an NIC.The National Secretariat for Elders stated that eligible senior citizens should contact their Grama Niladhari or relevant local officers to obtain assistance under the initiative.
