Court defers further hearing on Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s writ petition
The Court of Appeal has deferred further hearing of the writ petition filed by former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to 09 July.
The Attorney General requested the court to refer the petition to the Supreme Court, stating the matter relates to fundamental rights.
Deputy Solicitor General Suharshi Herath noted that the reliefs sought fall outside the Court of Appeal’s jurisdiction.President’s Counsel Romesh de Silva concluded oral submissions on behalf of the petitioner during today’s proceedings.
