National program to conserve 1,000 archaeological sites begins tomorrow
The government will launch a national program to conserve 1,000 archaeological sites across Sri Lanka from tomorrow (07), alongside Archaeology Week, the Deputy Minister of Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Gamagedara Dissanayake stated.
As part of the first phase, conservation work will begin at 100 sites, with the program aimed at strengthening excavation, research and preservation efforts through community participation.
