Sri Lanka Police have instructed organizers of Poson Dansal and pandals (thorana) to notify the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the relevant police station in advance to facilitate traffic management and ensure public safety during the Poson festival.

Police also warned that drivers who fail to report road accidents within 24 hours may face legal action, while revealing that more than 7,500 motorists have been arrested this year for driving under the influence of narcotics.
