During the operation, officials discovered a large stock of packaged food items offered for sale without displaying mandatory information in a manner accessible to consumers, including importer details, Maximum Retail Price (MRP), batch numbers, manufacturing and expiry dates, and ingredient information. In violation of consumer protection regulations, these products carried labels exclusively in foreign languages, without providing consumers with essential information, instructions, or warnings in a readable form.Investigations have now commenced against the establishment, and strict legal action will be initiated upon completion of the inquiry.

This practice misleads both local and foreign consumers by preventing them from understanding the contents of the products or how they should be used safely, the CAA points out.The CAA also emphasises that sale of packaged food products without mandatory importer details and legally required labeling information poses a serious risk to consumer health and safety.

Consumers are strongly advised to check all mandatory label information before purchasing packaged food products and to report such malpractices immediately through the 1977 hotline during office hours.
