The Colombo Permanent Trial-at-Bar has ordered that the verdict in the case filed by the Attorney General against former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando will be delivered on July 31.
Fernando faces charges, including criminal negligence of duty, for allegedly failing to prevent the Easter Sunday terror attacks despite receiving intelligence information. The case was taken up today (June 15) before the Colombo Permanent Trial-at-Bar bench comprising Judges Priyantha Liyanage, Viraj Weerasuriya, and Thilakarathna Bandara.Appearing on behalf of Hemasiri Fernando, Counsel Chaminda Atukorale concluded his oral submissions today.
After considering the facts presented, the High Court bench announced that the judgment in the case will be delivered on July 31.
